Here's how it works:
1. Register as a Volunteer Reporter
First you need to register as a volunteer Reporter in order to be able to use BlueSpot.VIP. To register you just need to provide a user name, email and password. You will receive an email with a link to confirm your email address. Once you have done that you are ready to log in. You can register here.
2. Set up your phone
In order to be able to submit photos of parking violations, you first need to make sure your phone is set up to allow BlueSpot.VIP to get your location. You can find the settings in the Help menu of BlueSpot.VIP on the Reporter Help page.
3. Take photos of accessible parking violations
You don't need to be logged into BlueSpot.VIP to take the photos. You will take the photos with your phone's camera app as you normally take photos. You will need to take two photos... one of the rear of the vehicle showing the license plate and parking spot, and also the front of the vehicle showing the windshield and lack of a hanging placard. See the Help documentation to see more details.
4. Upload your photos in BlueSpot.VIP
Log into BlueSpot.VIP and click the button that says Submit Violation. Then upload the two photos you took of the violation. After uploading the photos, enter the license plate information and click Submit. Your submission will be routed to the correct law enforcement agency based on the locality of the violation.
5. Contact Law Enforcement Agencies
Help ensure BlueSpot.VIP's success in your area by contacting your local Police Departments and Sheriffs' offices and urging them to sign up (if they aren't already) so they will receive the violations submitted by you and other advocates in your area. Contact them on their non-emergency number or social media page, encouraging them to visit www.BlueSpot.VIP to learn more and sign up!
Also, spread the word on social media and tell your friends and families to become volunteer BlueSpot.VIP Reporters! You can find us on Facebook and Twitter.
